Initial Response (Due Thursday by 11:59 pm): 1. With what advice from the experts in the above readings do you agree? With what advice do you disagree? 2. What else would you tell each of the parents/teachers asking for advice? Response to Classmates (Due Sunday by 11:59 pm): Respond to at least 2 classmates' original posts. Your responses should be approximately at least 1-2 full paragraphs in length (but must be at least 1 for full credit) and must include the following... • What are your thoughts or feelings about the information shared by your classmate? • Extend the discussion by providing some item of new information to the conversation. This might be accomplished by 1) asking a clarifying or thought-provoking question, 2) sharing an additional, relevant personal experience, or 3) sharing new information from the textbook or a link to an outside resource that supports the conversation. Be sure to check back in on the discussion regularly to respond to any questions to you and to read the responses to any questions you have asked. Note: Your grade for all discussions will be based on the DISCUSSION RUBRIC. Visit the Grades section to view the rubric. Students must keep all discussions respectful, civil, and on track with the topic. As outlined in the syllabus, the instructor reserves the right to remove any discussion posts that deviate from the topic, use inappropriate or harassing language, or are disrespectful to other students.
